Taylor Hicks, Angels, Devils and …Thorns

June 29, 2008

Why am I talking about Angels tonight? Well, outside the fact that Mr. Hicks is featured as one in the Broadway production of “Grease”? It seems one of the Taylor Hicks fans has started her own blog about them. She sees them in clouds in the sky whenever she points her trusty cell phone heavenwards. There are people who claim to actually see and photograph angels, seeing them in cloud structures. You know, whatever soothes your soul I guess, go for it.

Taylor Hicks, a Sunday Morning Go ‘Round

June 29, 2008

A whole lotta shakin’ going on Broadway, apparently as yet another theater reviewer comments positively on Taylor Hicks’ Big New York Adventure. In this article, the writer draws an Elvis comparison. It’s that glitter suit, man.

Not everyone agrees that Taylor Hicks in a Broadway musical such a kewl idea. On the mfoyaorphans site, Keepin’ it Real, they continue their satirically driven Taylor Hicks’ career coverage. Balancing it out, sitting on the other side of the fan rail,  the fans who may deem it verging on blasphemy that anyone offer any opinions on the direction he take in his career.

Broadway Indicating a Change for Taylor Hicks?

June 19, 2008

Taylor Hicks has been repeating in the on-air and live interviews that he’s viewing this Broadway venture as a vehicle to get his ‘feet wet’ into acting. Naturally that indicates he may ideas about getting into film and not limiting himself to pressed plastic. Taylor Hicks did start his American Idol “journey” with that Sam Cooke classic, “A Change a Gonna Come”, which may very well be exactly what the man lives for – change.

Taylor Hicks “Grease”-d by Fans?

June 15, 2008

Taylor Hicks, my favorite media punching bag once again getting pummeled. The man keeps on getting back up and swinging, refusing to go down.

Bigger topic than the blasting of Mr. Hicks holding a Tweenband poster and hanging with screaming and Ashley Furl-esque fans, his Broadway endeavor as Teen Angel in “Grease”. It seems many in the Hicks’ fanbase like to and want to hold on to what their initial impression was of the man during his run on that reality show that seems so long ago to me… read more at IDOL BLUES.

Taylor Hicks: Fans There is NO Guarantee

June 3, 2008

Sometimes, I think the folks who dub themselves ‘Soul Patrol’ and Taylor Hicks fans only imagine they know what they want. Hitting the reality button, it seems that when they each signed up as fans for the man, their preconceived notions and impressions have had to go through some changes. Perhaps that’s why so many are in turmoil with what really drew them to Mr. Hicks.

Was it the Sam Cooke, “A Change a Gonna Come”? No, I think that’s what perhaps grabbed some attention, but what captured the viewers of American Idol during Hicks’ reign on the show, was more the “NO guts, NO Glory” attitude of the man. So why now when Mr. Hicks makes decisions to carry that life force that is his wild and restless spirit, the very thing that make some decide to bail out of his fan base?

Hoops this man won’t jump through. Taylor Hicks won’t sit when you tell him to “sit”. He won’t “stay” on command. So what were you looking for when you sat on your asses and cast all those votes while he was on that reality show? Did you think you could make him your puppet? Pull your strings and make him dance and jump? Think again.

To think that he owes us as fans is right. In saying that I mean it only so far as he needs to honestly recognize, communicate and respect those who follow him. To think he owes fans in so much as to play organ grinder monkey to their specified music, that’s another matter. Taylor Hicks is not your monkey, he’s not your slave, no matter how much money you have to spend to follow him.

If you’re a fan who appreciates the man – the man as he stands – you might be in for a fun and interesting ride. Full of twists and turns and quirks. If you’re in this with Hicks to try and dictate, you’re in the Wrong Place.

To appreciate Taylor Hicks you have to have a place in your heart that knows where ‘those wild horses run’. You have to have a place in your soul open to that free spirit. Anyone who knows horses knows that you can’t tame Mustangs. They have to want to be your friend. It is similar to that.

You Run Taylor Hicks. This Sun Shines for you.

Where You Can Find Me

June 2, 2008

I post most regularly on IDOL BLUES, originally started as a Taylor Hicks journal of sorts while he was on American Idol. It’s morphed into more of a site in which I talk music, artists and related American Idol topics.
