[...] What do all of these names in speculation have in common? A couple of things. The most glaringly being, a lack of cohesiveness regarding concepts into who would work well within Mr. Hicks’ form of music. This opens the door to his fans’ obvious confusion about who he is and what type of sound he intends to embrace. Is Taylor Hicks ‘Pop’, is he blues, is he country? That circles back around to that “Modern Whomp” thing. [...]

about time, you are obviously combative in nature. I am not grouping nor broad brushing, I'm saying that mainstream fans wouldn't know - please take that into consideration before you haul out your paintbrush of fonts.

Music maven, yes, Gram liked to deck himself out in wild clothes, I would hope that is not the only reference Taylor had to him since Liberace pretty much covered the attire. LOL

Mr. Hicks has referenced Gram Parson's before. You tend to like broad brush descriptions, but you might be surprised how many of Taylor's fans do know a bit about music. Many became involved because of his knowledge and respect for the musicians that laid the foundation for new artists like him to build on.
Agree that he has a long range goal to make an impact on modern music. It has been alluded to a number of times, perhaps most memorably at Workplay in '06 during the Pop Tart tour's stop in Birmingham.

I don't think it has as much to do with Gram Parson's musical influences as the clothes themselves. Parsons was a hugh "Nudie Suit" guy. That is likely why Taylor through that in. That's how I took it, at least.

Gram was innovative for his era and influenced much of the music by association during that time period. He certainly changed the face of what we know and acknowledge now as "Classic Rock".

Interesting that Mr. Hicks just threw his name out there. He's just fascinating. ha.

Thanks for cluing us in about the Gram Parsons reference! The first song just isn't my kind of music, but Gram was very handsome with a beautiful mullet hairdo! LOL. I liked the Flying Burritos Brothers song much better- love those Sgt Pepper/Elvis outfits too!
